Personal Relationship with God

Another one of the most pernicious doctrines in Christian
theology is the teaching that we can and should have a "personal"
relationship with Yeshua. Not only does this idea NOT find support in
what Yeshua said, but it makes a mockery of the human experience,
and it makes a mockery of God by making him a very strange individual indeed!
The vacuous relationship
Who would settle for another "personal" relationship if
the other person never met or visited you, never touched or hugged you, never sent
you a birthday card, never spoke to you in person or even over something
like the telephone or with email? Wouldn't we rightfully laugh with scorn at
such a limited, one-way relationship being called "personal"?
Arrogant stance
Isn't the idea of the creator of the universe selecting
YOU to have a personal relationship with, in the face of NOT having a
personal relationship with most other humans, an arrogant one? Aren't
you really being an egotist and being pretentious? Please tell me what it
is that makes YOU so special against most others, including me?
Limited and minimal
Secondly, why is that "personal" relationship so limited
and minimal? Why is it only in the nature of a psychological coping
mechanism instead of being more tangible to the point of delivering
material benefits such as significant or tangible help with life's challenges,
problems, needs, desires; and mental and physical health benefits such
as healing and security?
Love one another
Instead, didn't Yeshua point our attention in another
direction for our relationships? His words are, "By this will all men know that you are my
disciples, that you love one another" and "If you have done it unto one
of the least of my brothers, you have done it unto me." If we define
real love as delivering to a person what they need and/or want, it is easy
to see that God cannot be loved directly but only by loving other people,
which is exactly what Yeshua indicated.
Yeshua came to this earth to manifest an adequate
demonstration that there is a God worthy of the term, and to inaugurate the
Kingship of the Heavens for humans on earth; not to establish
some kind of relationship that is no better than having an imaginary friend.
